You can get the same house for less 15 miles north of this place, in a safer, better neighborhood, but point well taken. Desperation is everywhere in this market. Gotta love it :)

Don't you love it? If I was that age, instead of the crusty old broad that I am, I think I could swing $700 to share the rent on that place with 2 other people. You'd still have a guest bedroom, not to mention the office area, the home theatre, etc.

My SigOther and I looked at a similar home in Roseville a year ago, and it looked like our main competition was a gaggle of young adults who didn't have very good credit scores. The master bedroom suite was bigger than my condo, I think. We nixed it for several reasons, all of which boiled down to it was too big and the yard was too small. But I remember thinking that it was really odd that I could easily afford to rent a place that there was no way I could afford to buy -- that was when I knew that I might be on to something big by renting.

A 15-year-old boy was shot multiple times during a graduation party that Elk Grove police say got out of control Friday night.

The boy, whose name police declined to release, suffered several gunshot wounds while outside a home in the 9500 block of Tarbert Drive, near the intersection of Elk Grove Boulevard and Bruceville Road.

Anybody want to buy a house in Elk Grove?

Maybe the need to rename EG Murder Grove? Probably not as sexy as South Sac though.
On a seperate note: I was out at the Fiddyment Farm "grand opening" today, even though this place has been open for about a year now, maybe more, it's official I guess today. I was surprised to see how many ppl showed up, but I believe most people would walk thru warm dog shi%t for free food and drinks. Plus they advertised the hell out of it. There was a trolly car picking people up at a very remote parking lot, but I think I saw only one or two trolly cars with a long line of ppl in the 89 degree heat on freshly paved black top. And we tried to park near the models at one builder location since we didn't want to look at all 5 builders at once...but they turned me away b/c they wanted us to park out in BFE with the other sheepeople. I wonder how many sales they lost with that attitude, and by sale I mean like 3-5 years from now, not this weekend. Poor planning and poor sales tactics. Oh well, ppl are always suckers for free things, we'll see if they're willing to pay for those overpriced homes near the big water tower on the hill. I'll check the sales info next week to see what happened. Anyone go out there this weekend and stand in line? I'd be curious how it went.

“We learned a lot today,” Mr. Botley said. “You can probably buy them cheaper on the market than buying here[at the auction].”

"Fiddyment Farm Presents Passport to ADVENTURE"

I can't make this stuff up.

PR, they had to make it an adventure and transform Fiddyment Farms into places like Paris, Morocco, etc since no one in their right mind thinks Fiddyment is an Oasis :)

I didn't realize they had Morocco in that list! I think I'll go out on a limb and venture a guess that the advertising genius who came up with this lame gimmick has never been to Morocco.

PR - You're right! They had belly dancers as the theme representative for Morocco. Does that really represent that country properly? I'm surprised the female employees didn't find this offensive.
