I think Sippn would enjoy giving Gwynster a bottle of Cabernet. Their dialog is masterful.

It would be even more fun to have a party with Lander when the market reaches the bottom. Imagine, all the prognosticating is over, the stats are in and the market is healthy again. We could get Real to sit on a dunk tank, while Perfect Storm tosses bean bags full of mailed in house keys at the target lever. Real would fall into a pile of shredded NODs! (No need for water, since he is already all wet.)

The contributions by everyone to this blog are really historical in nature. Imagine, if we left the housing news to the MSM and the NAR, many of us would have lost $100,000 in equity already. Instead, we started reading this blog in 2005/2006 and saved our ass-ets.

Good work Lander. I can not thank you enough. The countless hours you spend on this site and not even a PayPal button. Someday, I will buy you a bottle of Silver Oak!

Exactly Sittin!

Much thanks to Lander and congrats
to Gwen. I love this blog...
all your comments bring me back
to reality in the midst of an insane real estate market.

Thanks y'all.

Please bare with me while I say this badly - I don't feel particulary special, important, or that my needs outweight anyone elses. I am just a chick who wants a ratty little place of her own.

This community keeps me going. Being able to vent keeps me out of jail because if left to my own devices, I'm sure I'd be pouring sugar in realtor's gas tanks or something else similarily childish.

I am really humbled by the response but I do have a very important question.

Lander, can I really cuss people out now? >; )

Truer words were never spoken. I credit this blog with helping to save my economic sanity, because with so many people making much less than me who seemed to have so much more, I was beginning to feel like some kind of fiscally responsible dinosaur. The money that this blog is saving me is mostly being saved now --- because as homes began to drop into my range, without the sounding board and the information, I may have decided I was getting a good deal.

I agree guys, and gals...I thought I was the only one without a house there for a while. For years I thought I was going crazy because EVERYONE, and I mean EVERYONE, was getting into the RE market no matter what the cost including the cashier at the local yogurt shop [I’ll exaggerate for effect :) ]. I thought there was something wrong with me that I had a graduate degree and make a great income and yet I didn’t have a $50K SUV, a $70,000 import, a $60,000 pool in my $150,000 back yard, a 30-foot ski boat and a condo in Tahoe. But everyone at work, at the gym, the local Chili’s and at the yogurt shop did. I was glad to see I had company and that there are other people out there who still have their sanity (even without owning a house) and will be sitting back with me watching, and kind of enjoying, watching all this unravel. One can only live beyond their dreams for some long using phony financing before they must pay the piper. Thanks Lander for your time and efforts!

Not that there's anything wrong with working in a yogurt shop :)

Of course not, but one shouldn't have champagne tastes on a club soda income. (Nothing wrong with club soda, either.)

BTW, I have to thank Gwynster for links she posted on Ben's blog, which were very fascinating, on modern home design.
